1How Sharing Works

RentalMath allows you to generate shareable links. Deal sharing is available to all users. A shared deal is delivered in one of three ways, tried in this order:

1. Short link on our server — the deal payload is stored on our own server until the link expires or is revoked. This is the normal path.
2. Third-party shortener fallback — if our server does not return a short link when you create a share (it is unreachable, rate-limited, out of storage, or errors), the full long link (which encodes the deal data in the URL, in compressed form) is sent to the URL-shortening service is.gd — or v.gd if is.gd is unavailable — to produce a short link. Those services receive and store the complete link, including the encoded deal data, under their own privacy policies. This fallback is skipped entirely when the encoded link exceeds about 1,800 characters, and is never used when our server successfully creates the short link.
3. Long link — if every shortening option fails, the link itself encodes the deal data directly in the URL. No copy is stored anywhere until someone opens it.

2Public Accessibility

Anyone who receives or discovers your link can view the deal data in it. Links may be forwarded, posted publicly, indexed by search engines, or archived.

3What Data Is Included

Shared links may encode: property address, purchase price, financing terms, income projections, expense assumptions, calculated metrics, and any notes. Do not include Social Security numbers, bank account details, tax IDs, or personal information about third parties in deals you share.

4Short Links: Server Storage, Expiry & Revocation

When you create a short link, the encoded deal payload is stored on our own server under a random link ID until the link expires (by default about 90 days after creation), you revoke it, or — rarely — it is removed early because our share store has reached its capacity limit, in which case the links closest to expiry are dropped first. You can revoke a short link from the same browser that created it (via My shared links), which deletes the stored payload and disables the link; links created in another browser, another profile, or a private window cannot be revoked from this one. Expired links are deleted automatically. Short-link payloads contain the deal data you chose to share; they are not linked to a user account.

5Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for what data you include in shared deals and who you share links with. We are not liable for damages arising from unauthorized or unintended access to your shared links.
