Data Retention & Deletion Disclosure
What happens to your data — including after cancellation.

1Free Tier — Local Device Data Only
Free-tier users who do not create accounts have no data in the cloud. All data is stored in your browser's localStorage and CacheStorage on your device.
- localStorage (deal records): persists until you clear browser data, clear site data, or uninstall the browser/PWA.
- CacheStorage (App shell): updated automatically when a new App version is deployed; old cache is deleted by the service worker.
We have no access to free-tier local data and cannot delete it remotely. You control it entirely.
2Paid and Premium Tiers — Cloud Data
While Your Subscription Is Active
Your deal records are retained in Firestore for the life of your active subscription. We do not automatically purge data based on inactivity during an active subscription.
When You Cancel or Your Subscription Lapses
- Day 0 — Subscription ends: Account downgrades to free tier. Cloud sync is disabled. Data remains readable and exportable from Firestore.
- Days 1–29 — Grace period: You can re-subscribe at any time to restore access and stop the deletion clock. You can also export your data at any time during this window.
- Day 30 — Permanent deletion: All Firestore deal records associated with your account are permanently deleted. This is irreversible. We cannot recover the data after this point.
Notification: We will send an email to your registered address at the time of subscription lapse and a reminder approximately 7 days before the deletion date. You are responsible for keeping your registered email current.
Recommendation: Always export your data before cancelling. The App's export feature (PDF/CSV) is available to Paid and Premium subscribers.
What Signing Out Does (and Does Not) Do
Signing out does NOT delete your cloud data. Your Firestore records remain intact. The Firestore offline cache (IndexedDB) on the signed-out device is cleared by the Firebase SDK. Your data is available again when you sign back in.
3Account Deletion
When you delete your account:
- Your Firebase Authentication account is permanently deleted immediately.
- All Firestore deal records under your account are permanently deleted. There is no grace period after an account deletion request; deletion is processed promptly.
- Your subscription (if active) is cancelled; no refund is issued for the unused portion.
- Local localStorage data on your devices is not affected and must be cleared manually if desired.
To delete your account: use the account settings within the App, or contact admin@housatonicholdings.com. Before deleting, export your deal data using the export feature.
4Deleting Individual Records
You can delete individual deal records at any time within the App. Deleted records are removed from Firestore upon the next successful sync. Deleted records cannot be recovered.
5Operational Backups
Firebase/Google may maintain infrastructure-level backups for disaster recovery. These are not user-accessible and are subject to Google's retention policies. If you request deletion of your account or records, we will process that deletion in live data; infrastructure backups may persist for a limited additional period per Google's policies before being overwritten.
6AI Query Logs (Premium)
Inputs sent to AI features may be logged for up to 30 days for debugging and quality assurance. These logs are used solely for service improvement and are not shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
7Billing Records
Stripe retains billing transaction records as required by law and its own policies. We retain subscription status records (not full payment details) as needed for legal compliance and dispute resolution, typically for a minimum of 7 years.
